WHERE I HAVE BEEN – Ep2. UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

Next in the series of the countries is the country where I presently work. The United Arab Emirates is where ambition meets lifestyle.
I came to Dubai in 2022 and have been working here since. I have made a lot of friends, have had a lot of good experiences and am considering making it my home for the long term. Unfortunately, you end up knowing more about where you live and work than in other cities in the country. I have not fully explored UAE but have learnt a lot about Dubai. Dubai has masterfully transformed itself into a global nexus where business ambition, family-centric living, vibrant social scenes, and unparalleled travel connectivity converge, all underpinned by its intrinsic character of diversity and stability. Dubai offers an exceptionally safe, clean, and modern environment with outstanding international schools, sprawling parks, pristine beaches, and endless entertainment, from mega-malls to cultural festivals. Parents can build careers with confidence, knowing their children are growing up in a secure, enriching setting. For friends and social life, Dubai’s diversity is its heartbeat. In all of UAE, it is a stable, ambitious, and welcoming 21st-century model for global living.
UAE’s lesser-known history is rich with maritime and desert resilience. The region was a strategic node on ancient incense and trade routes, long before oil. Venture beyond the iconic sights and the astonishing modern architecture, and you will discover Dubai as a city of profound contrasts. Dubai’s coastline is my favourite leisure, and it holds more secrets than one knows. I do take the boat out by myself with much ease either for a tranquil solitary morning seclusion or for a friends and fun filled sunset drive. It is not in many places that you can feel that you are complaining at a higher level, if you are complaining at all. These facets reveal Dubai’s appeal not just as a global hub, but it is also a place of niche passions and surprising serenity. There are not many parallels you can draw between Dubai’s vision and that of any other cities with respect to transformation and development. Think about it: Very few countries can balance the diversity and growth with this much ease. Contrary to popular belief, UAE is a good example that a sensible regime does not have to be a democratic one to provide good governance while winning hearts.
